Commotion in Gyumri: Drunken serviceman of Russian 102nd base tried to get into wrong apartment
Sergey Sudnikov, a 26-year-old contract serviceman of the Russian 102nd military base in Armenian city of Gyumri, tried in a drunken state to get into the wrong apartment in the city’s Ani neighborhood at midnight on February 1.
Panorama.am learned from the prosecutor of Armenia’s Shirak province Raffi Aslanyan that Sudnikov already gave an explanation.
“He said he visited a friend who lives in a nearby house, they had a drink together, and then he decided to return home. But it was too late, he failed to hire a taxi so he decided to return to his friend’s house and spend the night there. But he was drunk and mistakenly attempted to get into the wrong apartment,” Aslanyan said.
In his words, Sudnikov’s friend gave a similar explanation, saying that they are both contract servicemen and are allowed to leave the military base outside hours. As contract servicemen, they both live in Gyumri, and not at the military base. “No harm was done to residents. Moreover, Sudnikov was not armed as he is an artillery expert and has no weapon on him,” the prosecutor said, adding that on his instructions, the police are preparing materials and conclusions will be made within ten days whether there was corpus delicti.
