Haykakan Zhamanak: Reshuffle of Ambassadors under discussion
Reshuffle discussions in the highest echelon of Armenian leadership are underway, “Haykakan Zhamanak” newspaper informs, adding that replacement of several Ambassadors are discussed as well. Earlier, the newspaper informed that Ishkhan Zakaryan, President of Armenian Control Chamber would be appointed as RA Ambassador to the State of Kuwait. “According to our information, Fadey Cհarchoghlyan, acting Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to the State of Kuwait, will be appointed as Ambassador to Greece. If the mentioned combination comes true, Ambassador to Greece Gagik Ghakachyan’s future will remain uncertain,” the newspaper writes. It also reveals the possible move of Vache Gabrielyan, Armenian Minister for International Economic Integration and Reforms, to the Central Bank. “However, Vache Gabrielyan’s appointment as President of Control Chamber seems more likely as Gevorgyan is expected to take the post of the Reform Minister,” the newspaper concludes.
Aravot: We learn about our bills from international organizations
“Aravot” newspaper editor-in-chief Aram Abrahamyan writes: "Hidden from public for a long time, the Electoral Code draft finally appeared. For us Armenians the document was available neither on the website of the National Assembly, nor any other state agency, not to mention news agencies, but on the Venice Commission website in English. Then only it was revealed that the document is ready and more than that is included in the agenda of today’s Government Session. Till then only a select few and the Venice Commission knew about it. At first glance, is seems the concerns of the opposition about the Electoral Code are appropriate. Yet at this moment, it is most significant that a document, which the Armenian public wasn’t familiar with, which hasn’t been discussed with the opposition in any way, was initially submitted to the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe that considered the document so final that decided to publish it. It turns out that we learn about our bills from international organizations.
”Hraparak: Cars to drop in prices, Dealers to face bankruptcy
Parliamentarian Hrant Bagratyan has shared his perspectives about the abolishment of a 20 percent value-added tax (VAT) by Armenian Government levied from the EEU states, viewing it “in accordance with EEU Agreement.“ Bagratyan does not believe Armenia’s move came under pressure from the EEU, as both the Finance minister and the Government were concerned with the budget incomes received through taxes in their previous discussions. Asked what changes the government decision will bring to the market Bagratyan said: “An interesting situation will occur. A drop in prices will be registered for all the goods and particularly cars imported from the EEU states.” Asked whether the decision will positively impact the population ,Bagratyan says. “It always happens that people benefit in the short term period but the decrease in prices will hamper the economic growth in the long rune. That is the move is not a perspective solution. We will benefit for half a year then the negative consequences will follow. All dealers engaged with the import of cars and other goods would either go bankruptcy or shift the market towards Russian,” Bagratyan said.
