“The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia officially confirms the reports about the active offensive initiated by the adversary along the Line of Contact between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani forces in the night of April 1-2. During the offensive the adversary employed tanks, armored vehicles and air force and attempted incursion into the depth of NKR Defense Army in order to occupy strategic positions”, - official press statement of the Armenian Ministry of Defense reads.

According to the report, due to the successful undertakings of the NKR Defense Army units the adversary suffered many losses and had been thrown back along the entire Line of Contact. Currently the military operations continue.

“The Ministry of Defense of Armenia condemns in strongest terms the unprecedented aggressive and irresponsible decision of the Azerbaijani authorities to start the military offensive and officially states that the continuation thereof may result in unpredictable consequences for the Azerbaijani side”, - the Armenian MOD statement says.

The Ministry statement says “the entire responsibility for the unprecedented escalation of the situation along the Line of Contact between the Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces rests with the Azerbaijani authorities”.

“The Ministry of Defense of Armenia invites the attention of the international community and, in particular, the co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group on the situation on the ground and expects an addressed intervention without delay in order to keep the situation under control and escape larger scale military actions”, - statement concluded.
