The country that has a knowledge-based economy and the public development is based on the scientific achievements, is in a favourable position, said President of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Radik Martirosyan during “Science and Technology Convergence” conference on April 29.

According to him, holding such a conference is important especially during the April war.

“The public often asks what the science could do for the country’s defense. Indeed, this isn’t a simple issue, yet the IT sector is one of the most developed branches of science in Armenia, and I hope that we’ll have serious achievements in the future,” Radik Martirosyan said.

Chairman of the State Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia, Samvel Harutyunyan said that many events are organize to contribute the development of the IT sector in Armenia.

According to him, the IT sector has a distinguished role in production and public development. He also added that Armenian national security is heavily dependent on the level of IT security, and this dependence is gradually increasing along with technological progress.

Chairman of the State Committee of Science emphasized the importance of holding such conferences and added that such events encourage the cooperation of the state and science.

“They allow IT scientists to present the results of their research and the problems related to their activities. And we are here to hear those problems and make our recommendations. Also, our task is to make sure Armenian youth and the organizations uniting them hold leading positions in the international market,” Harutyunyan said.
It should be noted that Science and Technology Convergence conference aims to encourage the mutually beneficial cooperation of the IT sector and the industry.
