Vitali Balasanyan: Point out a state where peacekeepers brought peace
We shouldn’t undermine the adversary, MP of the Artsakh National Assembly, Artsakh hero, General Vitali Balasanyan told Artsakhpress.
“The nature of war has changed today. Until 1994, we run defensive and offensive actions, then the ceasefire document followed, which I couldn’t understand what it was about. What is the difference what calibers of weapons are used? These days came to demonstrate we should not count on any documents and those states, which although doing everything to avoid the war resumption, however we witnessed that the offensive war resumed and situations still remains uncertain. We should have countered the adversary, should have hit back,” Balasanyan noted.
The General then reflected on the idea of deploying peacekeepers in Karabakh: “Peacekeeping forces never bring peace. Point out a state, where over the last 20-30 years peacekeepers have brought peace. The balance is kept by the Karabakh forces.”
Balasanyan next dismissed the possibility of suppressing Karabakh through new and modern armaments.
“As a former soldier and commander of the defensive war, I can state the truth that the quality and quantity significantly [of the weapons] has changed, however do not think the issue can be solved through military means, regardless what state wants to force on Karabakh,” Balasanyan concluded.
