By shelling the Line of Contact between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan, deliberately escalating the situation, at the same time putting the blame on Karabakh side for its actions, Azerbaijan vividly demonstrates that it disregards mediation efforts aimed at conflict settlement, reads the statement released by the Armenian Defense Ministry press department.

To remind, earlier NKR Defense Army reported Azerbaijan has shelled at Defense Army combat positions since May 13 at around 17:00 opening fire along the entire Line of Contact. Intense firing came on the northeast (Martakert) and northern (Talish) directions, where the adversary used 82 mm mortars (116 shells). 

In the result of the Azerbaijani violation of the ceasefire arrangement, Karabakh servicemen Hovhannes Eduard Poghosyan, 1995, received gunshot wound in the combat position of the Defense Army military unit located in northern direction.

NKR defense Army Advanced Detachment took up retaliatory actions and suppressed the adversary’s activity, reads the statement.
