Iran sees the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict through exclusively peaceful means, President Rouhani says
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is on an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, was received by the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on June 5. According to the press statement, released by the press department of Armenian Foreign Ministry, at the meeting President Rouhani referred to extensive opportunities and capabilities of Iran and Armenia to trade and develop economic ties between the two countries in the light of the lifting of the international sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
“To develop ties between Iran and Armenia in the field of transit and transportation of goods, there is a good opportunity, by using which we can connect the Black Sea to the Persian Gulf through Armenia and in doing so, we are ready to provide Armenia with technical and engineering services,” said President Rouhani on Sunday.
Minister Nalbandian reflected on the joint completed economic projects between the states and stressed Armenia’s readiness to develop new ambitious projects both to the benefit of the economic development of the two states and the regional cooperation. With this respect, collaboration between Armenian and Iran in bilateral, multilateral formats was highlighted.
Minister Nalbandian next presented the steps aimed at overcoming the consequences of the military operation unleashed by Azerbaijan in early April as well as the efforts to implement the agreements reached in Vienna summit on May 16. President Rouhani reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always sought security, stability and peace in the region and sees the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict through exclusively peaceful means and will spare no effort in helping the countries of the region.”
Minister Nalbandian commended the Iranian balanced position over the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
President Rouhani asked the minister to convey his most cordial greetings and sincere wishes to the President of the Republic of Armenian and noted he planned to visit Armenia in the coming future.
