Chairman of Yerevan Press Club: Little by little, Russia takes control over Armenian foreign policy
“Azerbaijan has to get something in the current regional geopolitical situation. It is possible to deliver something to Azerbaijan without any significant losses, like returning several territories of Karabakh. However, there is a radical approach among us that Russia is selling Armenia to Turkey and Azerbaijan, which is, in fact, false,” Chairman of Yerevan Press Club, Boris Navasardyan said during a press conference.
According to him, Russia is trying to use the Armenian resource, namely those territories for its own interests, yet it’s important for Russia that Armenia remains player, which makes decisions as dictated by Russia.
“We consider [everything happening] in this context an unpleasant development, namely the fact that Russia takes control over Armenian foreign policy little by little,” he said adding that another process of Russia taking over another function of a sovereign country, the issue of security is underway.
“So, what’s the format? Armenia has to make some concessions, and in return Russia will take responsibility for the RA security,” he noted.
Speaking about rumours that Turkey is likely to become a party in the settlement of Karabakh conflict, Boris Navasardyan said those have nothing to do with reality.
