Roland Sahakyan, who has spent almost three months in the intensive care unit after having been wounded in Talish during the four-day war in early April, had another surgery, this time - on pressure ulcers.

As Hripsime Sahakyan, Roland’s mother, told Panorama.am, Roland might take another operation in the future. Thus, Roland has been operated for 9 times over the 5 months of being in the Yerevan Central Military hospital.

“Overall, my son’s condition is stable. He is unable to lie on his back and sit yet, however I hope my son will recover soon,” the soldier’s mother told. She next informed that physiotherapists are working with Roland. After certain courses of therapies Roland feels his legs and slightly moves them.

“Doctors say, we should wait and we are waiting with hope in God,” Hripsime Sahakyan noted.

To remind, Roland, a three-month soldier, was wounded on his way to the front. He was driving the car when the adversary started shelling. Roland tried to get out of the car when he noticed it was getting more and more intense. However, he didn’t manage to get out, the adversary hit him.

Seriously wounded, Roland was taken to Stepanakert, then to Yerevan. He underwent number of surgeries at the Central Hospital of the Defense Ministry. During the last surgery, a fragment was removed from his spine.

Roland is from Armavir region. His parents are engaged in agricultural works which is the sole mean of living for them. The family’s father today bears the whole burden of keeping the family.

“I left everything and moved to Yerevan to care for Roland. There is nothing more important except my son’s health,” Hripsime Sahakyan concluded.
