Politician: In the US the elite and the common people have voted differently
"The results of the US elections were not surprising. The American people have not cast a ballot for Trump or against Clinton, but the society gets tired of the elite in all the countries, including in Armenia," politician Alexander Iskandaryan noted during the meeting with reporters.
According to him the crisis in the electoral system is a global phenomenon, which has been observed in France, Austria, Poland as well as during the UK referendum.
"93 percent of Washington population have cast a vote for Clinton. This means that the elite and the people of the US have voted in different ways. The common people protested by voting against the ruling elite," the politician noted.
In response to the question what changes Trump-elect could make regarding the matter of the Armenian Genocide, A. Iskandaryan noted that nothing will change in the South Caucasus.
The current situation regarding the settlement of Karabakh conflict will remain the same.
"The format within which the US and RF cooperate with each other by becoming OSCE Minsk Group member states, putting aside their differences, is the only one worldwide. They cooperate as none of them wants the war to break in this region. They will continue making efforts to keep the violence on a certain level," Iskandaryan noted.
