Public TV Company entire archive to be available in HD format
Public TV Company’s archive materials will become available to a wider range of public layers within the framework of a grant allocated to Armenia on behalf of Japanese Government. According to the release by the Public TV Company, it will be replenished with necessary equipment aimed at digitizing archival records of Public Television.
According to the source, for many years it has been a priority issue to Public TV Company to maintain and digitize archival records, since there is a rich national archive available on films, videocassettes, DVDs, and hard drives that are in bad need of development, regulation and digitization.
“Highlighting the importance of preserving archival records, starting from 2014, Public TV Company spared no effort to launch chemical processing of archival records. In parallel to these works, the Company also took actions in forming a structured database and retrieval system of various archival materials,” the statement said.
As a result of ongoing cooperation with Japanese government agency “JICA, Public TV Company will receive a series of equipment which will enable not only to digitize archival records, but also assist in conducting professional image editing and processing, as well as creating a digital film library equipped with multilayer search options.
Through the project to be launched at the end of this year the company “will have a long-term solution to the preservation and usage of archival records, this way enabling public access to rich archival legacy of Public TV Company and “Yerevan” studio, the source added.
