Three political forces to run for Yerevan’s Council of Elders elections

The deadline for nomination of the candidates to the Yerevan’s Council of Elders’ elections has ended, Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission reported in a release on Monday.

According to the source, three political forces have registered their lists for the elections to be held on May 14.

The party list of the ruling Republican Party is headed by the acting Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan. Apart from the ruling party, two oppositions forces -   Yelq (Exit) bloc headed by Nikol Pashinyan and the newly established Yerkir Tsirani (Land of Apricot) party headed by Zaruhi Postanjyan will vie for 65 seats in Yerevan’s Council of Elders that will elect a new city mayor.
