With the summer holiday season looming, everyone in Armenia tries to find out the most effective option for organizing summer holidays. The search for cheaper and quality options sometimes lead people to travel agencies, hoping to find assistance from experienced tour operators.

In order to reveal the preferred tourist destinations by Armenians this year, the correspondent of Panorama.am has talked to representatives of a number of travel agencies.

The first thing to be revealed by the survey was that the number of people affording to rest in abroad has drastically cut down due to the deterioration in social conditions.

As Globus Tours told us, people turning to them mainly prefer to spend their holidays in Greece.

“This is based on the fact that this destination is relatively affordable. A 7-day rest for two individuals starts from 1200 euros, with 9-day tour package beginning from 1500 euros. The rest at the Turkish costs is also affordable, however not demanded in recent years,” the agency representative detailed.

Joy Tour travel agency informed that they also have a prevailing number of customers who want to rest in Greece, namely in Crete and Rhodes. Meantime, the representative of the agency noted that they do not offer Turkey holiday packages to their clients, drawing their attention to other destinations.

Rima Travel agency told Ponorama.am that their customers more often apply to them to have a trip to Egypt, which is based on the low costs of the destination. During certain heated sales it is even possible to purchase tour packages totaling to 250 USD for a person. Italy tours are also demanded.

Few people can afford to have a rest at Armenia’s resort towns as it was the case before. The travel agencies noted that people prefer to rest in abroad spending lower sums of money, than resting at Tsaghkadzor or Jermuk spending huge sums.
