Armenia’s Hrant Melkumyan continues to be among leaders at European Chess Championship
The games of Round 6 of European Individual Chess Championship 2017 have been played at Minks, Belarus. In the central match of the round, Armenia’s Hrant Melkumyan drew his game against Ivan Cheparinov.
As Panorama.am was informed from the Chess Federation of Armenia, Armenian chess players Sergei Movsesian, Haik Martirosyan, Vahe Baghdasaryan, Arman Mikaelyan, Davit Mirzoyan and Hovhannes Hakobyan claimed victories at this round.
After six rounds, 10 players are leading the table with 5 points. Armenian player Hrant Melkumyan continues to be among the leaders. Arman Mikaelyan has scored 4.5 points.
Round 7 of the tournament is scheduled today.
To note, European Individual Chess Championship 2017 is a qualification event for the next World Cup. According to FIDE regulations and the decision of the ECU Board, 22 participants will be qualified for the world chess tournament.
