Armenia’s foreign ministry clarifying identities of six Armenians who allegedly entered Norway via Russian border
Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is trying to clarify the identity of six Armenians who allegedly crossed the Russian border to enter Norway from the country’s Migration Service, Tigran Balayan, Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, told Panorama.am.
In the official’s words, the Norwegian police have confirmed that six Armenian citizens have crossed the Russian-Norwegian border, however the ministry has submitted a written inquiry to the country’s migration service to find out the available evidence proving the individuals who crossed the border are Armenian citizens. There is no new information over the matter.
To remind, according to a report by the Associated Press, six asylum-seekers from Armenia were able to enter Norway via a remote Arctic border post from Russia.
The police chief at Norway's Storskog checkpoint says the would-be refugees, aged between 4 and 58, entered the Scandinavian country by car on Tuesday.
The source also noted that it was the first time asylum-seekers had crossed the border since Oct. 30, 2015.
