Vigen Chaldranyan named new Chairman of Armenian National Film Academy

The regular session of the Armenian National Film Academy was held on Thursday at Sergei Parajanov Museum, chaired by film critic Raffi Movsisyan.

The meeting agenda featured two issues: the election of the chairman of the National Film Academy and the selection of Armenia’s pick for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 90th Academy Awards next year, the academy reported.

To remind, People’s Artist of Armenia, filmmaker Harutyun Khachatryan served as the chairman of the Armenian National Film Academy since February 2016. He was relieved of the post upon his own resignation in early September of the current year.

Honored Art Worker of Armenia, film director Vigen Chaldranyan was been elected as the Chairman of the academy, with Raffi Movsisyan regaining the position of the academy’s secretary general.
