Macron could be quite active in Karabakh conflict settlement -French lawmaker
Member of the French Parliament Daniel Kazaryan, who is on a private visit to Armenia, told a press conference in Yerevan on Tuesday, reflecting on development prospects of the Armenian-French relations and the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.
Kazaryan first informed three French-Armenian MPs are represented in the National Assembly of France, the lower chamber of the Parliament with all of them representing the French President Emmanuel Macrons’ “En Marche” party.
“I consider myself an Armenian and French parliamentarian who represents Armenia as well,” the MP declared.
Speaking of the Armenia-France relations, Kazaryan reminded of the Armenian-French parliamentary group that actively worked during former President François Hollande tenure and comprised over 60 lawmakers from different parties and fractions.
Following the new elections in France a new parliamentary group is currently formed. “We look to expand the group, involving more deputies to further strengthen the cultural, economic and political ties between our two countries,” Kazaryan said.
The French-Armenian lawmaker next touched upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, expressing hope for the swift resolution of the conflict with the current President Macron to continue efforts aimed at peaceful settlement.
“I think the new president needs some time. No doubt he can be quite active in addressing the issue along with the other Co-Chairing states of Russia and the United States,” explained the parliamentarian.
At the end of the press conference Kazaryan admitted she had never been to Artsakh and wished to visit the country next time.
