President Serzh Sargsyan on Friday received members of Mexico-Armenia Friendship Group of the Chamber of Deputies of the United Mexican States, led by Head of the Group Blanca Margarita Cuata Dominguez.

Greeting the guests, the President of Armenia noted that the Armenians are always happy to host the representatives of a friendly country, since such visits give new quality and content to bilateral relations and are a good opportunity to discuss different issues relevant to interstate partnership. Serzh Sargsyan expressed conviction that the visit of parliamentarians from friendly Mexico will open up a new chapter in Armenian-Mexican inter-parliamentary relations and may outline future areas of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

President Sargsyan highly appreciated the establishment of the Mexico-Armenia Friendship Group at the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico and expressed gratitude to Blanca Margarita Cuata Dominguez for heading the Group. The President said to be convinced that it is a valuable effort in terms of promoting relations between the two peoples.

The President also welcomed the parliamentarians’ 2-day visit to Artsakh, describing it as a nice opportunity to get familiarized with the Artsakh issue, the history and culture of its native inhabitants, the Armenians who have lived in that region for many centuries, as well as with the daily life of these people struggling for their freedom.

Evoking the devastating earthquake that hit Mexico last September, Serzh Sargsyan expressed conviction that the people and leadership of Mexico will do everything cope with its aftermath within a short period of time.

The Head of Mexico-Armenia Friendship Group thanked the Armenian President for a warm welcome and assured the Group would do its best to strengthen and deepen cooperation since their visit to Armenia and Artsakh made them feel Armenian people’s warm attitude and the reciprocated desire for friendship.

“We have opened very good doors for friendship between our two peoples. It is a great honor for us to visit a noble country like Armenia. We were also happy to see Artsakh, a small and proud country that has already earned a place of its own in our hearts,” Head of Mexico-Armenia Friendship Group Blanca Margarita Cuata Dominguez said.
