Iranian president not expected to visit Azerbaijan in near future – analyst
Citing the Iranian ambassador to Baku, the Azerbaijan media on Tuesday released information suggesting Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will visit Azerbaijani in coming days.
However, the Iranian Embassy to Azerbaijan released a statement saying Hassan Rouhani’s visit to the country is not expected in near future, Armen Israyelyan, an Armenian expert on Iranian studies, said on Facebook.
Instead of the Iranian president, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will leave for Baku, the expert added.
Earlier it was reported that Rouhani will attend an emergency session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Jerusalem in Istanbul.
To remind, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli capital, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called an OIC emergency session on Wednesday. The organization was founded in 1969 and has 55 member states.
