One of deminers injured in Artsakh landmine explosion still placed on ventilator
Garik Ghahriyan (born in 1987), one of the employees of the HALO Trust, the world’s largest humanitarian landmine clearance organization, who was injured following an accidental detonation of an anti-tank landmine in the Gazanchi area near Artsakh’s Martakert region, is still in a grave but stable condition.
He continues to be treated at the rehabilitation department in the Stepanakert Hospital hooked-up to a ventilator. Doctors were forced to amputate his lower limbs and remove his spleen, reports Panorama.am.
Doctors assess the condition of Aram Mkrtchyan (born in 1974), the second HALO Trust employee wounded in the blast, as satisfactory. He had internal bleeding and a ruptured spleen.
Three staff members of the organization identified as Pavel Akopov, Samson Avanessian and Marat Petrossian – all citizens of Artsakh – were killed in the landmine explosion on 29 March.
