Nikol Pashinyan, Richard Mills discuss issues related to Armenia-U.S. relations
Armenia’s government is interested in and attaches great importance to the cooperation with the Unites States and its possible support in democracy development, anti-corruption fight, human rights protection and other key reforms, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at today’s meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard M. Mills.
PM Pashinyan and Ambassador Mills discussed a number of issues related to the Armenian-U.S. relations, the government’s press service told Panorama.am.
“We are full of energy to achieve our goals and tangible results, taking into account also the positive atmosphere prevailing in our country today,” Pashinyan said, stressing the Armenian government is firmly determined to catalyze the efforts in the mentioned areas.
Ambassador Mills reiterated the U.S. government’s commitment to support Armenia in its bid to implement the planned reforms.
“The U.S. government is committed to supporting your stated goals of democracy, human rights, transparency and accountability, which will improve Armenia’s business environment and make the country more attractive to U.S. investors. We see several opportunities for dialogue and collaboration, including through the U.S.-Armenian Task Force,” he said.
The meeting also addressed the prospects of increasing the trade turnover between Armenia and the United States, holding snap parliamentary elections in Armenia, making electoral reforms, as well as the current regional developments and other issues of mutual interest.
