“Through its activities of the past five years, the Special Investigative Service proved its commitment to its most important mission – the anti-corruption strategy – adopted back in 2013, consistently continuing to make new achievements in the sector,” he said.
“I am glad that like on numerous other occasions before, now I can announce with a clean conscience as well that very few law enforcement agencies in our country can boast an effective anti-corruption fight as the Special Investigative Service can.
“I am confident that this kind of principled and effective work style contributed to the increase in the Special Investigative Service’s role as an impartial and professional structure in our country’s legal system,” the statement reads.
“Being proud of the mentioned and other achievements in the service, nevertheless I find it necessary to announce that I do not find it appropriate to further continue my service given the developed circumstances,” Shahinyan said, stressing he is leaving behind “an impartial, incorruptible and professional team loyal to the country.”
