Armenia’s Pashinyan offers condolences over Arsene Tchakarian’s death
Armenia Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has addressed a message of condolences to the family of Arsene Tchakarian, the last surviving member of a group of immigrant workers courageously resisting the Nazi occupation of France during World War II, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 101.
The message, released by the PM’s office, reads:
“I was deeply saddened to learn about the death of a devotee of the French Resistance movement, a member of the Missak Manouchian group, Arsene Tchakarian.
Tchakarian, who survived the Armenian Genocide and found a second homeland in France, has dedicated his whole life to the struggle for tribute of the memory, victory of freedom and justice.
Arsene Tchakarian’s death is a great loss for both the Armenian and French peoples.
I extend my sincere condolences to his family and relatives.”
