Four bridges collapse, roads closed off after heavy rains hit northern Turkey
After flash flooding and heavy rainfall, roads were closed off in both directions across Turkey’s Black Sea region on Wednesday, Yeni Safak reports.
According to reports, four bridges located over the Cevizdere Stream in the Ordu province have collapsed and 165 people are stuck in the region.
Mayor of Ordu’s Çaybaşı district İsmet Yanık stated that 30 tons of hazelnuts have been damaged during floods.
“Four bridges have collapsed, four people wounded and 165 are waiting to be evacuated,” said Mayor of the Ünye district Mayor Ahmet Çamyar.
Turkey's Meteorology Institute also warned that a storm is expected between 00:00 a.m. and 15:00 p.m. on Thursday in the east of the Black Sea region.
