PM urges Yerevan residents to actively take part in municipal elections

The snap elections to the Yerevan City Council are going to be elections of the people’s will expression, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a Facebook live video after casting his ballot in the snap elections that kicked off in the Armenian capital early on Sunday.

He urged the Yerevan eligible voters to actively participate in the elections, stressing they are the ones whose decision will shape the election results.

Pashinyan expressed hope the Yerevan residents will realize the responsibility and seriousness of the moment and will go to the polling stations.

“I think we can all record that this voting will be a voting of the people’s expression of will; the people’s voice shall be recorded and the outcome of elections shall be formed based on your voting,” he stressed.

The PM also expressed hope the elections will not see any unpleasant incidents and will proceed in a calm and respectful climate.

Pashinyan unveiled his plans to depart for New York today to address the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, to be followed by his trip to Dushanbe for the summit of the CIS heads of state.
