Soldiers injured in the crash Wednesday not in a life-threatening condition
All the soldiers injured in the accident Wednesday were taken to Sisian hospital, none of them is in a life-threatening condition, the press secretary of the Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page Wednesday evening.
"We are sorry for the incident, the Armed Forces suffered a great loss, the life of every soldier is precious to us.
Dear friends, we still do not know the actual reasons behind the accident. We can not say whether it occurred due to a human factor or a technical one. An investigation will be held and we make sure that everyone responsible for it will be punished.
The RA Armed Forces are carrying out military exercises, which presupposes moving from one place to another. And in such cases, unfortunately, sometimes it is impossible to avoid accidents.
Once again we feel sorry for our loss. The RA Ministry of Defense expresses its condolences to the family members and relatives of the deceased servicemen, "Hovhannisyan wrote.
A “Kamaz" carrying soldiers crashed on Vorotan-Khndzoresk highway Wednesday at around 1pm, falling down the canyon. The driver of the car and soldiers Edgar Hovhannanyan, Hayrapet Nairyan, Hrant Gasparyan and David Melkonyan were killed in the accident.
An investigation is underway.
Those responsible for the accident might face jail of four to ten years, according to the RA Criminal Code.
