The Armenian National Assembly failed to start the regular session on the fourth consecutive day due to a lack of quorum after only 6 MPs were registered to participate in the session. To ensure the quorum, 53 out of 105 MPs should be registered. Speaker Ara Babloyan reminded that according to the regulations, they should wait for four hours to ensure quorum.

Among other issues, the agenda of the four-day session includes the petition filed by the prosecutor general to strip the MP Aram Harutyunyan of immunity for further criminal proceedings.

The MPs held a minute of silence in memory of the 1988 earthquake victims.

"In 1988, 30 years ago, the devastating earthquake killed many of our compatriots. We had hard times, and the situation was really severe and if it were not the whole world's help, the rescuers and doctors who arrived here immediately, we would have suffered bigger losses. Even though more than 25,000 people were killed, in a hindsight I can tell you that the whole nation was united which helped us overcome the hardships. Personally, I was able to leave the hospital only on the 21st day after the earthquake because it was simply impossible to get out of there. Today we will go to the disaster zone and take part in the events. Life goes on and it seems natural that on the one hand, we should commemorate of the victims of the earthquake, on the other hand we will participate in the opening ceremony of a new plant, which gives us new jobs, new hopes and development. Remembering the past, we should look into the future, this is the only driving force in the nature," the Speaker said.
