Another animal dies in Yerevan Zoo
One of the Bezoar ibexes of Yerevan Zoo has today been found dead outside its case, the zoo said in a statement.
The animal escaped the zoo on Monday but was taken back to the cage through the efforts of the Yerevan Zoo employees.
“A comprehensive probe will reveal the reason behind the animal’s escape from the territory and its death,” the zoo said, adding the Bezoar ibex was born in Yerevan Zoo in 2013.
The zoo says the death of the animal might be linked with the latest interview of its director to Irates.am news agency.
“We are convinced that so long as the law enforcement agencies fail to properly deal with the recent incidents in the zoo and hold the responsible people to account, this situation will, unfortunately, continue,” reads the statement.
Now the Yerevan Zoo has 12 Bezoar ibexes, with 3 of them born this year.
Earlier in November, a crocodile and a zebra died in the zoo.
