Several roads closed, difficult to pass in Armenia
Several roadways in Armenia are shut down or difficult to pass as of Wednesday morning due to adverse weather conditions.
Vardenyats Pass, partly covered with black ice, is closed for cargo trucks with trailers, while Spitak turns are difficult to pass for cargo vehicles, the emergencies and transport ministries reported.
Sotk-Karvachar and Artik-Aragats highways are also partly ice-covered.
Snowfalls have reportedly hit Amasia, Aparan, Aragats, Gavar, Talin, Vayk, Sisian and Meghri regions, as well as Vardenyats Pass and Spitak turns.
Drivers are strictly recommended to use winter tires when traveling to the regions.
Road cleaning works are underway.
According to the Emergency Situations Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed for trucks.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s General Department in North Ossetia reports stuck vehicles on the Russian side.
