Former Chef of Staff-Secretary General of the Armenian National Assembly Ara Saghatelyan calls on journalists to refrain from abusing the trust and disseminating fake news, he said, commenting on the media reports alleging the savings in the parliament last year are agreed with the impossibility to misuse them.

“I noticed the tendency to mislead the people over this issue and to abuse the trust of media representatives earlier during the New Year reception for reporters in the parliament,” he told Tert.am, adding he had completely answered all the questions voiced during the meeting.

Saghatelyan reiterated that the savings in the parliament are agreed exclusively with the ‘honest and effective work’ of its staff.

“Taking the very example of fuels, I must say that in 2017 we had already saved around 50 tons of petrol whish was stored for 2018. And in 2018, we purchased some 40 tons less, at the same time cutting the number of parliament service cars by 14,” he said.

He said all the expenses were made in observance of acting norms and rules.

Earlier on Thursday, Zhoghovurd daily wrote that the 2018 savings by the National Assembly were not fixed anywhere and the staff had to announce them not being able to misuse or hide the means after the revolution.
