Trump's approval rating hits all-time high in Gallup poll
U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating has hit its highest levels since his inauguration in a recent poll, Washington Examiner reports.
Trump has hit 46% approval in the latest Gallup poll, the highest level since the polling group began asking the question. His approval in the poll has been as low as 35%, but the new numbers show an increasingly positive trend for the president. In early March, before the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, Trump’s approval sat at 39% but jumped to 45% in the first half of April.
The poll found that Trump carries a 91% among Republicans, close to his record high of 92% support among the party back in November.
The support might be buoyed by the release of Mueller’s redacted report, which showed that Trump did not conspire with Russia during the 2016 presidential election but made no determination on whether he obstructed justice during the investigation. The Trump administration said that the report vindicates him and clears him of any wrongdoing.
Another reason for the surge might be increasingly positive economic numbers. A jobs report in early April showed that U.S. gross domestic product increased by 3.2% in the first quarter. On Friday it was announced that unemployment rates hit a 50-year low in April.
The poll surveyed 1,024 adults nationwide in late April and has a 4% margin of error.
