Tourist arrivals in Armenia soar, PM says
Armenia saw a strong growth in tourist arrivals during the first six months of 2019, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a Facebook post.
Particularly, the number of visitors from Germany grew 59.5%, from China – 53.5%, from the Netherlands – 34.9%, from Switzerland – 30%, from the United Arab Emirates – 29.7%, from Greece – 29%, from Italy – 24.4%, from the UK – 22.9%, from Japan – 22.2%, from Russia – 19%, from Sweden – 19%, from the United States – 15% and from France 13%.
In general, Armenia recorded a 12.8% tourism growth in the first half-year, the prime minister said.
“According to Central Bank estimates this year tourists spent $120 million more in Armenia than last year. Each Armenian citizen can apply for their share from this money.
“I would also like to remind how important it is to provide proper services to tourists so that they leave Armenia with good impressions and raise awareness about our country and boost its image around the world,” Pashinyan said.
