Armenia has seen no negative developments in the coronavirus situation, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Monday, summing up the outcomes of a meeting of the coronavirus task force.

Armenia reported its first coronavirus infection on Sunday in a 29-year-old citizen returning from Iran. Authorities have also quarantined around 30 people who have been in contact with the man.

“No new case of coronavirus has been confirmed. In this period a number of suspicious cases have been diagnosed, but they have confirmed negative. At the moment we are awaiting the results of nine tests,” the PM said.

He promised to disclose the results of the tests as soon as they are available, adding if the test results confirm the infection a second test will be performed.

“I hope they won’t confirm the infection, but if, God forbid, they give positive results, it should not cause any panic. Remember that the disease is curable. Currently our only confirmed coronavirus patient has no fever or any other symptoms. He is just watching TV in his room at the Center for Prevention of Acute Infectious Diseases,” he said.

Also, Pashinyan added all the citizens placed under quarantine in the spa town of Tsaghkadzor are feeling well.
