Death toll from alcoholic poisoning rose to 18 in Armenia
The death toll from poisoning linked to toxic vodka in Armenia rose to 18 with another new death recorded on Wednesday the Health Ministry said.
From August 31 to September 9, a total of 46 cases of alcohol poisoning were recorded in Armenia, 10 people have died. 29 cases were recorded in Armavir province, 15 cases - in Yerevan and two - in Kotayk province.
In the mentioned period, 28 patients have received treatment at different medical centers across Armenia, 22 of them have discharged.
Five people with symptoms of alcohol poisoning are receiving treatment at hospitals, two of them are in critical condition.
28 cases come from Armavir province where the citizens were poisoned after drinking an illegal homemade alcohol bought from an Armavir resident Ashot Hovsepyan. The latter was arrested, facing criminal charges. In other cases, people used rubbing alcohol as an alternative to vodka.
