The Artsakh Republic Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the blatant violation of the humanitarian ceasefire by Azerbaijan, reached with the mediation of the Russian Federation for the exchange of prisoners of war and bodies of the dead. In a released statement on Saturday the ministry said: "Especially heinous is the fact that the Azerbaijan -Turkey – international terrorism Troika alliance has attacked immediately after the announcement made by the Defense Army of Artsakh about the implementation of the ceasefire. By this action Azerbaijan once again has proven that it is a rogue state that does not keep its obligations, even for 5 minutes."

The statements said that the blatant attack convincingly proves that Azerbaijan views the negotiations as a cover to prepare itself for further military actions.

"Under the given circumstances, the international community can stop this rogue state only in one way: to recognize the Republic of Artsakh. This will allow the implementation of the necessary legal mechanisms that will guarantee peace and security for our Republic and for the entire region," said the ministry.

To remind, the Artsakh Defense Army reported that Azerbaijani military launched an assault in the direction of an area known as Karakhambeyli within minutes of the ceasefire coming into effect.

Before the humanitarian ceasefire was enforced, the Azerbaijani side also attempted a diversion and reconnaissance mission in the direction of Hadrut.

The developments came following the Friday consultations held in Moscow on Russia’s initiative, where Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on a humanitarian ceasefire to start at 12:00 p.m. on October 10 to exchange prisoners and other detainees and bodies of those killed in the conflict.
