The exact mission of Russian peacekeepers yet to be clarified, Peskov says
The mission of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, the protection of cultural and religious sites
among them, are yet to be clarified, Spokesperson to Russian President Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.
"We are talking about a peacekeeping brigade. Their mission is yet to be clarified, as exact functions were not mentioned in the joint statement of the two presidents and the prime minister," Peskov said, when asked to comment whether the peacekeepers are tasked with protecting the cultural and religious sites in the area of their service.
He reminded that the joint statement contains no provision on protection of cultural and religious sites. "I cannot comment on whether the issue will be part of their mission for now," said the Kremlin Spokesperson.
