Former US Special Negotiator for Nagorno-Karabakh and Eurasian Conflicts Carey Cavanaugh commented on the recent incident in Artsakh's Hadrut region, insisting the situation still remains dangerous on the ground despite the reached agreement on November 9 and the deployment of Russian peacekeepers. 

"The December 11 military action in Hadrut region (where Russian peacekeepers were not deployed) underscores dangerous situation on the ground. Current ceasefire agreement lacks details and constitutes at best a fragile peace. Need to quickly restart  political settlements process," Cavanaugh tweeted. 

To remind, Armenia's Defense Ministry earlier reported that the units of the Azerbaijani armed forces, which had accommodated additional troops and military equipment, including heavy artillery, grossly violated the provisions of the November 9 trilateral statement and initiated an attack in the direction of His Tagher and Khtsaberd villages of Hadrut region of the Artsakh Republic. 

As a result of the hours-long fighting, the adversary managed to enter His Tagher village and approach the outskirts of Khtsaberd. As a result of the military actions initiated by Azerbaijani provocation. the Armenian side left 6 injured, while the enemy suffered injured and killed troops. 

Later, the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov stated that the Russian peacekeepers suppressed a ceasefire violation in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the situation in the region normalized.
