Armenia’s defense minister meets with new head of Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh
Armenia’s Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan on Thursday hosted the newly-appointed commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh, Major-General Mikhail Kosobokov, and the commander of the Russian 102nd Military Base in Armenia, Colonel Dmitry Ovcharov. Defense Attaché of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, Colonel Igor Shcherbakov took part in the meeting, the Defense Ministry reported.
Karapetyan congratulated Mikhail Kosobokov on assuming the office and wished him success in his peacekeeping mission. He also congratulated Dmitry Ovcharov on his appointment to the post of Commander of the 102nd Military Base, highlighting the role of the Russian military base deployed in Armenia.
The Armenian defense minister praised Russia’s efforts to stabilize the military-political situation in the region, as well as the process and efficiency of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh.
The sides exchanged views on regional security issues during the meeting.
