Analyst: Armenian authorities may be wrong in their calculations once again
Armenian political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan, head of the Voskanapat Analytical Center, has spoken about the upcoming meeting of Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev in Brussels.
"Ahead of the meeting in Brussels, what is the agenda of the sides going to the negotiations? After the meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev in Brussels, the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from Parukh and the Karaglukh heights is not ruled out. This is a demand of the Russian side, which Azerbaijan cannot ignore for a long time,” he wrote on Telegram on Sunday.
“However, the Aliyev regime wants to seize the opportunity to extort certain new political concessions from Pashinyan in exchange for the withdrawal of its forces.
“Therefore, there is a risk that the Armenian authorities may be mistaken in their calculations once again and/or try to gain new dividends in the eyes of the public (especially now, when new rallies start in Yerevan), giving Aliyev new promises in exchange for what can also be forced on Azerbaijanis,” the analyst said.
