A group of Armenian oppositionists on Tuesday started a march from the border village of Tigranashen in Armenia's Ararat Province to Yerevan as part of a protest movement aimed at toppling Nikol Pashinyan and his cabinet.

The group, including opposition Hayastan faction MP Anna Grigoryan, young ARF activists and other citizens, is expected to reach the Armenian capital as early as May 1.

“It’s no secret that Armenia and Artsakh are living through decisive times. Today, more than ever, we must stand united and determined to overcome external challenges. Until then, we must oust those who have signaled readiness to make Artsakh as a part of Azerbaijan, who are ready to hand over parts of Gegharkunik, Syunik and other regions of Armenia to the enemy every day,” she said before the march, expressing confidence that they will succeed in the fight for Artsakh and Armenia.

She addressed the claims about the so-called “Azerbaijani enclaves” under Armenia’s control, warning the incumbent Armenian authorities against making new concessions to Azerbaijan.

“Tigranashen as well as Tavush villages will remain Armenian and no areas of Syunik can ever be ceded [to Azerbaijan],” the MP noted.

Earlier on Monday, a group of Hayastan activists, including MPs Gegham Nazaryan, Aspram Krpeyan and Armenuhi Kyureghyan, headed from Ijevan to Yerevan.

Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a deputy speaker of the Armenian parliament from the Hayastan bloc, said similar marches would be held from other parts of Armenia as well. In the meantime, the opposition will hold small-scale protests and marches in Yerevan.
