Minister: 17 repatriated Armenian POWs are in military hospital
The 17 Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) who returned from Azerbaijani captivity on Tuesday are currently in the hospital of the Defense Ministry, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan told reporters on Thursday.
They will be discharged from hospital after undergoing medical checkups and treatment, she said.
Azerbaijan freed 17 Armenian prisoners of war following US mediation.
Separately, Avanesyan said there was no need to send samples of the fallen soldiers’ bodies to foreign countries for their identification.
"Our technical equipment is sufficient for conducting research. In a number of cases, the process of identifying the remains is not yet complete, we will get the results of all examinations in the near future," Avanesyan said.
