Artsakh athlete wins bronze at IMMAF European Championships
Artsakh Armenian athlete Vasak Barseghyan won a bronze medal at the 2022 IMMAF (International Mixed Martial Arts Federation) European Championships held in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy, from September 26 to October 1.
The athlete defeated his Czech and German rivals to capture bronze in the 70 kg weight class, the Artsakh Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reported.
Barseghyan and his coach received enthusiastic reception from the ministry officials, their relatives and friends at Stepan Shahumyan Park in Stepanakert on Wednesday.
“I could not achieve the desired result due to an injury. Next time I will try to perform better and win gold at the World Championships," Vasak said.
The coach hailed it as a great success, stressing Artsakh last won medals at the European and World Championships three years ago.
