'We have to live with the new normal', says Armenian economy minister
Armenia’s Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan believes economic growth can be achieved despite shootings on the border with Azerbaijan.
“We all have to live with the new normal," he told a press briefing at the Armenian National in response to the question about how the border shootings affect the country's economy.
He assured that the government is doing everything possible to improve the security environment.
"But we should also keep in mind that we are now living in a new normal where something can happen every day," the minister said.
"Shootings are a normal phenomenon even in Israel, whose economy is growing at a fast pace. If these shootings do not threaten the country's sovereignty, we must try to make sure that in the face of shootings we develop our economy and make our country safer every day. I sympathize with the families of all fallen servicemen, but I may also become a victim of border shootings one day, and I am ready for that," Kerobyan added.
