Tatoyan: Artsakh people's right to self-determination has no alternative

Armenia’s former Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, the chairman of the Center for Law and Justice Tatoyan Foundation, delivered a speech at an international conference on the human and cultural security prospects of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) held in Los Angeles on November 11-13.

The event was organized by the Artsakh Heritage Committee of the American Western Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the fund said in a statement on Thursday.

Tatoyan presented the basics of the right to self-determination of the indigenous people of Artsakh, an inseparable part of the Armenian people.

Evidence justify existence of an ongoing policy of Armenophobia and animosity sponsored by Azerbaijani authorities.

The former ombudsman emphasized that consequences of Armenophobia sponsored by the Azerbaijani authorities were visible during the war started by Azerbaijan in April 2016, the 44-day war in 2020 and the September 13-14 aggression. The wars resulted in torture of civilians and servicemen, mutilation of bodies of soldiers and inhumane treatment of prisoners of war, he underscored.

“The right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh has no alternative. This is the only way to guarantee the rights and security of Artsakh Armenians,” Tatoyan was quoted as saying.

His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian gave a special message addressed to the participants of the workshop.

Experts from different countries of the world participated in the conference.
