Japan, Ukraine sign agreement on $164 mln grant to Kyiv
Japan and Ukraine have signed documents on a 22.4 billion yen (some 164 million US dollars) grant for Ukraine, the Japanese foreign ministry said on Friday.
The documents were signed by Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Kuninori Matsuda and Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s restoration and the development of territories and infrastructure Alexander Kurbakov on March 2, TASS reported.
The funds will go to fund demining and clear-up works, restoration of the infrastructure and agriculture.
On January 17, Japan decided to allow Ukraine to indefinitely suspend payment of the 7.8 billion yen (60.6 million US dollars) loan issued by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) earlier this year. Payments were to begin in 2027.
