Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan seeks to win his second Olympic gold medal at Paris 2024.

Aleksanyan earned a gold medal at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro.

The wrestler clinched his 6th European title at the European Championships held in Zagreb, Croatia in April this year.

“All my victories are hard-fought, because you know how much we work with the coaches to achieve them,” he told a news conference in Yerevan on Wednesday.

Speaking about the upcoming World Wrestling Championships, Aleksanyan said: “The Armenian national team is one of the best teams in the world. We have a strong team and will do everything we can to ensure good performance at the World Championships and then the Olympic Games.”

He says his goal is to achieve what he failed to do in Tokyo in Paris and become a two-time Olympic champion. “I will do my best to achieve it,” Aleksanyan stressed.

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Malkhas Amoyan, who won his second European gold in Zagreb, said he faced a tough competition in the final bout. He secured victory in the final 20 seconds.

"There are a lot of flaws, we need to fix them with the coaches in order to be fully prepared for the World Championships, the main qualification event for the Paris Olympic Games. I just need to train well, qualify for the Olympic Games and then to win it,” the athlete said.
