Armenia loses some 1.5 billion drams a month amid Russia's ban on Armenian dairy imports
Armenia’s economy has been losing between 1.2 billion and 1.5 billion drams a month after Russia’s decision to ban imports of dairy products from the country.
Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Rosselkhoznadzor, imposed the ban on Armenian-produced dairy products on April 5, deeming them unsafe for Russian consumers.
“The possibility of resuming imports will be discussed after all violations are eliminated by Armenia,” the watchdog said.
The Ministry of Economy’s belated response to a Panorama.am inquiry reveals that the authorities have not yet launched inspections into the dairy companies one month after the ban to eliminate the violations and restore the exports to Russia.
