Lawyers seek SJC head's resignation
Armenian’s Chamber of Advocates calls a rally outside the building of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) in central Yerevan on Monday to demand SJC Chairman Karen Andreasyan’s resignation.
In a statement on Friday, lawyer Harutyun Harutyunyan, a member of the Chamber of Advocates, accused the SJC, a state body overseeing Armenian courts, of blatantly violating advocates’ rights and failing to protect them against police brutality.
He urged all, including reporters and judges, to join the protest which kicks off at 12:30pm.
“I am sure that only your joint struggle with lawyers can stop them,” Harutyunyan said.
