Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has warned of an increase in Azerbaijani troop movements in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

In a social media post on Thursday, the lawmaker claimed it poses greater risks for blockaded Artsakh amid the ongoing cabinet changes.

His comments came after Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan stepped down last week. The country’s parliament speaker has temporarily assumed the president’s duties.

“Undoubtedly, the timing of Azerbaijan’s actions is not accidental and is aimed at exerting enormous pressure on Artsakh,” wrote Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction.

“Azerbaijan will try to prepare the ground for the use of force, and the tougher rhetoric of its foreign minister and the president’s foreign policy advisor is no accident,” he said, adding Artsakh's resistance resources continue to deplete.

120,000 Armenians of Artsakh have been living under Azerbaijan’s unlawful blockade for nearly nine months now without the ability to access food, fuel, medicine and other basic necessities.
