MEPs call for EU sanctions on Azerbaijan

More than 60 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have sent a letter to High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell, calling for sanctions against Azerbaijan for its large-scale offensive against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

MEP Nathalie Loiseau, Chair of the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Security and Defense, published the letter on X on Thursday.

“More than 60 Members of the European Parliament followed me and requested Europe to impose sanctions against the Ilham Aliyev regime for its attack on the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh,” she said. The MEPs call on Borrell to take action to prevent the ethnic cleansing and new war.
